The trousers come with the innovative adjustable-waist band to ensure perfect fit.

Tirupur June 7 The Royal Classic Group, promoters of the Classic Polo men's apparel brand, has launched a premium range called `0 Press' trousers (pronounced zero press to denote the wrinkle-free character of the fabrics used).

The formal launch today was marked by the inauguration of a Rs 4-crore trouser plant by the Union Textile Minister, Mr Shankar Singh Vaghela.

The 16,000-sq ft plant at nearby Vagarai is equipped to produce 800 pairs of trousers in a single shift.

The company plans to gradually raise the output by introducing a second shift. The trousers come with the innovative adjustable-waist (auto-fit technology) band to ensure perfect fit. They undergo the `Weishi' wrinkle-free special chemical processing made available from China and are priced in the Rs 1,000-2,000 band.

"Classic Polo has now positioned itself in the premium segment as well as the mid-segment," said Mr K. Sivaram, Executive Director.

Speaking to newspersons, he said that the Group had, in the last two years, invested Rs 72 crore to strengthen its production value chain across ginning, spinning and processing. With the establishment of a 1,500-seater sewing line, it has completed backward integration, which allows it to concentrate on retailing and brand building.

With 10-12 per cent growth in retailing, Classic Polo clocked a turnover of Rs 30 crore last year and hopes to double its turnover this year, Mr Sivaram said.

The Group proposes to spend 10 per cent of turnover on retail/brand promotions.

As part of its retail market development, it plans to double headcount in marketing and increase the number of exclusive stores to 100 this year and sales outlets of its innerwear brand `Smash' from 3,000 to 6,000 in two years.

The Group, which plans to expand its overseas marketing network, has opened a Singapore office for marketing `Classic Polo' apparels.

The products to Singapore would be shipped in a month, he said, adding that two overseas offices would come up in Malaysia and Thailand.
