DLF Hotel Hilton to develop 3 new properties

Our Bureau

Kolkata June 8 DLF Hotel Hilton Ltd, a 74:26 joint venture between DLF group and Hilton International Co, plans to build three properties, two hotels - one in luxury category and the other a business hotel - and a service apartment unit in Kolkata. All three will carry respective Hilton brand names, meant for each of the hospitality segment.

The three properties with a total of 670 rooms, according to Mr Surojit Basak, CFO of DLF Home Developers Ltd, would require a combined investment of around Rs 500 crore.

The projects would be operational within next three years, he said.

The company has already been allotted five-and-a-half acres of land by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on the eastern fringe of the city. The proposed luxury hotel will have 320 rooms, the business or budget hotel will have 250 rooms and the service apartment unit will have 100 keys, according to the plan.

Dankuni complex

DLF group has also planned a 2,000-acre, Rs 3,000-crore multipurpose project at Dankuni, about 30 km north of Kolkata. This will include, according to a proposal submitted to the State Government, an SEZ for textiles units, an IT SEZ, one industrial project and a hundred-acre residential-cum-township project with schools, hospitals and other civic infrastructures.

"The textile SEZ would occupy around 250 acres of land, while the housing complex would require about 100 acres. Our proposal envisaged accommodation of around 40 small and medium non-integrated spinning, weaving, knitting and dyeing units. However, inclusion of an integrated unit or units would obviously reduce the total number. We are currently working on the textiles SEZ master plan", Mr A.S. Minocha, Chairman of DLF group, explained.

Rajarhat IT Park

According to officials, the first phase of IT Park on 15-acre land and a built-up area of 1.6 million square feet at Rajarhat, on the outskirts at Kolkata, would be fully occupied in the next couple of months. Work on the second phase on a contiguous land of 25 acres is on. Mr Minocha said a three-acre retail complex blue print at the same location is through, while plan for a 15-acre residential complex, also at Rajarhat, is on the drawing board.
