Hardware MBPV begins shipment of solar PV cells Our Bureau
New Delhi June 8 Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd (MBPV) on Thursday announced that it has commenced commercial shipment of its solar photovoltaic cells, and has firm customer orders and memoranda of understanding of over $100 million. "Additionally, the fully integrated in-line cell manufacturing facility has started producing photovoltaic cells at expected level of output with cell efficiency levels up to 15.5 per cent," a company release said here. MBPV plans to straddle multiple future technologies and emerge as an engineering & technology driven company in a global photovoltaic market that is on a high growth curve - sales expected to grow over 6 times to $40 billion by 2010. "The response for our product has been encouraging and we have queries and orders from customers based out of America, Europe, South Asia," Mr Ravi Khanna, CEO, MBPV, said adding that the company is on track to implement a 20-MW module-making capacity in the forthcoming quarter.
