HC adjourns Nandigram case till tomorrow

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata June 11 A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Chief Justice Mr S.S. Nijjar and Justice Mr D.P. Sengupta today adjourned the Nandigram case till June 13.

Some of the matters relating to Nandigram affairs today came up for hearing, but a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Calcutta Bar Association with regard to Nandigram incidents did not appear; hence, the court directed that all matters relating to Nandigram incidents should be heard analogously.

Following the unfortunate incident on March 14, at Nandigram, in which 14 lives were lost, the High Court ordered a CBI enquiry. A report was filed by the CBI seeking further investigations.

Several parties including the High Court Bar Association filed petitions for reliefs, while the State Government filed opposition on each of them. The counsel submitted that normalcy has not yet returned to Nandigram.
