Infrastructure Cabinet nod for Chennai greenfield airport sought Our Bureau
New Delhi June 11 The new greenfield airport in Chennai could take shape soon with the Ministry of Civil Aviation set to move a note seeking the Cabinet approval for the project. Official sources told Business Line that the issue was being placed before the Union Cabinet as its nod was required for any new airport to come up. The modernisation and expansion of the existing airport will also be reviewed on June 15 when the Prime Ministers Committee on Infrastructure meets here. "Work on developing the existing airport can start after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) receives clearance from the Public Investment Board (PIB), that looks at investments proposal involving expenditure over a fixed amount," officials said.
