Chennai June 12 According to a report by research firm CLSA, Infosys has been increasing its campus placement footprint, recruiting from 685 colleges last fiscal compared with 263 the previous fiscal. Will there be a further increase in the number of campuses Infosys visits this year, perhaps in a bid to counter the reactions to the non-compete bond? "We do not see any impact of the non-compete clause on fresher hiring. We are making offers to more people and hence going to more campuses," Mr Pai said without disclosing how many colleges the company planned to visit this year. The CLSA report also says that in 2006-07 competitor Tata Consultancy Services had managed to secure the "day - 1" slot (first day of hiring in campuses) in 91 per cent of the campuses it visited the previous year (2005-06), while the comparative figure for Infosys was only 78 per cent. Focus on strengthening `day - 1' hiring is considered akin to the relationship and bargaining power of a company with an institute, according to the report. Mr Pai did not wish to comment on these figures, but said `day-1' hiring did make a difference as lot of good candidates were available then.
