Solidworks plans expansion

Fast tracking its plans for the Indian market, 3D CAD (computer aided design) software vendor Solidworks announced its expansion plans. It will increase the headcount from 60 employees in 2006 to over 90 this year, adding to both its research and development and support centre teams. The company also announced increased investments in strengthening its VAR network and enhancing the teams' capabilities to provide excellent sales and service support to customers. It has appointed Mr Manoj Mehta as the India country manager for this purpose. Prior to joining SolidWorks, Mr Manoj was the country manager of corporate/government sales for supplies business at Hewlett Packard India. The company also appointed Mr P.M. Ravikumar as national education manager. It plans to expand its presence in educational institutions across India including engineering colleges, polytechnics, and technical institutes to help meet the needs of small and medium enterprises. SolidWorks India is headquartered in New Delhi and has direct offices in Bangalore and Mumbai.
