Meet on non-woven textiles in Coimbatore

Coimbatore June 12 Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore, in association with the Texas Tech University, US, is hosting an international conference on non-woven textiles between June 18 and 20.

Widely regarded as the Indo-US collaborative event, the conference on non-woven textiles will draw international participation from top 10 countries including the US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain add China representing leading non-woven/technical textile companies, besides domestic members from the leading textile industry/research bodies/academic institutions.

Among issues to be deliberated upon at the meet include advancements in spinning, weaving, knitting, non-woven process and applications, medical, technical textiles and developments in areas like textile finishing and nanotechnology, according to a communication from Dr Seshadri Ramkumar, faculty from Texas Tech Univeristy and organising secretary of the conference.

The non-woven textile meet at KCT is being held with the support of two international professional bodies, Association of Non-wovens Fabrics Industry (INDA) and American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.

The conference to be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Textiles, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, is to be attended among others by Dr N. Mahalingam, Chairman of KCT, Mr S.V. Arumugam, Chairman of the Southern India Mills Association, Mr C.K. Wong, INDA board member, and Dr T. Ramasamy, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology.

The KCT meet has been endorsed by the US congressman, Mr Randy Neugebauer (of 19th congressional district, Texas) as a significant event of Indo-US collaborative efforts, the communication said.
