New Delhi, June 13

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) on Wednesday announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to strengthen co-operation and increase collaboration between the IT industry and DRDO. A release issued today said the MoU was an initiative for further innovation and development of IP in the domestic market. The initiative is also expected to strengthen co-operation for enabling a long-term involvement of the software companies in DRDO's development projects. "Creating upstream linkages with the Indian research and development institutions is a key part of Nasscom's focus on developing the country's innovation ecosystem. DRDO has been responsible for developing a number of leading technologies in multiple focus areas spanning across aerospace, control systems, communication which makes it the obvious choice for this partnership. As the Indian IT industry moves up the value chain, these areas are both of interest and relevance," Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom, said in the release.
