New role for Ravi Uppal at ABB

Bangalore June 13 Power equipment maker ABB has appointed the country manager for India and head of South Asia Region, Mr Ravi Uppal, as President of Global Markets with effect from July 1.A press statement from ABB said Mr Uppal would also serve on the company's Group Executive Committee. Mr Uppal will also continue as the country manager for India and Head of South Asia Region.

As part of the new role, Mr Uppal will be responsible for markets across all ABB regions and countries as well as the group account management function and will report to Mr Fred Kindle, the Group President and CEO. He takes over this role from Mr Dinesh Paliwal, who leaves ABB at the end of June 2007.

As part of ABB's new organisation put in place since 2006, eight regions were created to manage business line and functional roles effectively across geographies and maximise synergies.
