Outlook Marketing - Retailing GN plans to expand stores by year-end Our Bureau
New Delhi June 14 GN, global manufacturers and marketers of headsets, has said that it will expand its presence in the Indian market to 1,500 stores by the end of the year and focus on the BPO industry, office and enterprise segments in the country. The company, which sells Bluetooth mobile headsets and other hands-free devices under the Jabra brand name, currently has about 1,000 stores in the country. "The Bluetooth headset market in India is expected to record a CAGR of 74 per cent and cross eight million units by 2011 and touch one million by the end of this year," said Mr Vincent Pena, Regional Managing Director (Middle East, India and Africa).

The professional (contact centre and enterprise) headset market in the country is also likely to record CAGR of 21 per cent over the next five years, he added. The company has 25 per cent market share in the professional segment, said Mr Pena, adding that GN has tied up with Innova Telecom and Avaya GlobalConnect to increase its presence in this space. GN has also tied up with Salora International and Faxtel Systems to consolidate its position in the Bluetooth mobile headset market. Salora will cater to the company's markets in the North and the West, while Faxtel would look after markets in the South and the East.
