Co-op bank begins SMS banking in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, June 14

The Kanakamahalakshmi Co-operative Bank Ltd here introduced SMS banking and customer balance enquiry facilities on Thursday for the benefit of account-holders. Mr K. Ratnakishore, Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust, who inaugurated the facilities, congratulated the bank for offering such services to its customers.

Mr P. Raghunadha Rao, Chairman, said that the bank would open another branch (the second) in the city soon, and was expecting the licence anytime. He said the bank had deposits of Rs 33.02 crore and advances of Rs 24.90 crore, and reserves amounted to Rs 2.62 crore. It had investments of Rs 12.85 crore. The NPA had been reduced to 2.02 per cent, he added.
