Tata Tele to invest Rs 200 cr in AP circle

Hyderabad June 14 Tata Teleservices Ltd,(TTSL) on Thursday announced that they plan to invest Rs 200 crore in the Andhra Pradesh circle to expand their network.

Village network

Currently, TTSL offers services across 357 towns and in over 9,000 plus villages in the State and the network expansion during the year is likely to cover another 127 towns and more than 1,000 villages.

The Chief Operating Officer of TTSL, Andhra Pradesh circle, Mr Sanjeev Khera, said that despite being the last entrant into the mobile telephony services, it has now acquired a customer base of about 1.8 million in the State.

"While it took nine years to achieve the nine-lakh user base, the next nine lakhs were acquired in less than a year. Reflecting the growth potential, we have embarked on a process to expand the network while always providing easy interface for subscribers," he said.

In fact, the company's online store, ichoose, provides with comparative numbers and helps customers take informed decisions.

Addressing a press conference here today, the COO said that the company network in the State was rated No. 1 by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for voice quality. Efforts are on to further build on the network strength.

National plans

Mentioning about the company national plans, Mr Khera said that the footprint now covered 17 circles and soon it would roll out services in the North East and Jammu & Kashmir. The company now has over 18 million subscribers with presence in 3,400 towns.
