New Products & Services Bharat Matrimony offering free matrimony diary Sravanthi Challapalli
Chennai June 18 Online matchmaker Bharat Matrimony has launched a free service called Matrimony Diary. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO, Bharat Matrimony, said the move was aimed at continuing the relationship with the users, who usually left the portal once they found a partner. Offering them space on the portal to keep family and friends abreast of wedding preparations and events is a way of creating awareness for the portal as well. Bharat Matrimony will even register a domain name (such as raghavwedsrekha.com) free-of-cost for the user for one year. The cost to the company per user will be around $100 per year, Mr Janakiraman said, claiming this was the first time anywhere in the world that domain registration was being offered free to the user. The diary will be free for one year, after which the user can choose to continue using it by paying a fee of Rs 1,000 per year, he said. Users can choose to make it public or private. The offer is open only to those whose wedding has been fixed at a date within six months. Those who are already married have to pay to register in the Matrimonial Diary, he said. According to internal estimates, the portal has over 50 per cent market share of the Rs 150-crore online matrimony business, Mr Janakiraman said. It has launched a TV campaign after three years, he added.
