Remains public utility service

New Delhi, June 18

The Government on Monday extended by six months the status of iron ore mining as a public utility service. In a notification, the Labour Ministry said that this was being done in public interest under the Industrial Disputes Act. Mining workers would have to intimate their employers at least six weeks in advance before proceeding on strike, an official release said here.
