O&M bags Direct Lion at Cannes

Our Bureau

Bangalore, June 19

O&M (Bangalore) has bagged a bronze Direct Lion (for communication using non-traditional media) at Cannes 2007, for its campaign for the Hutch Ranga Shankara theatre festival. The two-week campaign last year involved theatre artists slipping into dramatic situations at various points in the city — a couple breaking up at a restaurant, a fight between a possessive boyfriend and voyeur at a coffee shop, a marriage proposal in the park and an argument in the office. As these situations were being played out, almost realistically, they obviously caught the attention of audience around. And when the onlookers got themselves engrossed in the situation, boards that read, `For more drama, come to Ranga Shankara' were held out; also leaflets with the festival schedule were given out.

The scenes were staged in English and Kannada at 25 different locations across the city. Small ads sayings were also placed in `Page 3 and in between the agony aunt columns of newspapers with the message - `For more drama, come to Ranga Shankara.'
