Outlook Marketing - Retailing Rajesh Exports may open jewellery retail chain worldwide Swetha Kannan
MR RAJESH MEHTA
Bangalore June 19 Rajesh Exports is keen to open its `Laabh' chain of jewellery retail stores worldwide. The company is looking to set up at least 50 stores in South East Asia, West Asia, Europe and the US next year, said Mr Rajesh Mehta, Chairman, Rajesh Exports. The Bangalore-based jewellery exporter entered domestic retailing with the `Laabh' chain of stores last year. Currently, it has around 30 stores across the country. It plans to have 150 stores in two years. Meanwhile, the company's `Shubh' chain of stores in South India is set to take off in five months.
More stores
"By March next year, we will have 100 stores," said Mr Mehta. Also, the first few standalone outlets of OyzterBay (which Rajesh Exports acquired last year) will come up by December. Apart from exports to wholesalers and bulk consumers, Rajesh Exports now supplies to retailers directly. It is selling jewellery to three chain stores in the US, UK and Germany. Mr Mehta, however, would not disclose the names of these chain stores. Rajesh Exports will also soon launch its own brand of diamond jewellery for the international market under a new brand name with a `Made in India' tag.
