Inspecting the areas affected by sea erosion at Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, he said the Government wants permanent solution to the problem of sea erosion. However, Rs 25 lakh each has been released to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts as an emergency measure.

MORE FUNDS SOUGHT

He added that the State Government has been requested to release Rs 3 crore for three coastal districts of Karnataka to tackle sea erosion. He will speak to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister in this regard.

To provide a permanent solution to the problem of sea erosion in the coastal districts, the Government has submitted a Rs 291-crore proposal to the Union Government. The proposal includes the construction of breakwater and seawalls in three coastal districts. Asian Development Bank has been requested to fund the project, he said.
