GV Films plans Rs 50-cr multiplex unit near Chennai

Chennai June 20 GV Films intends to put up a Rs 50-crore multiplex theatre on the outskirts of Chennai in joint venture with the present owner of the land selected for the project.

Sources in the company told Business Line that the complex would house a 100-room hotel and 10 screens for exhibiting movies. There would be space for shopping malls too.

The proposal for the project is being placed before the company's board, which is meeting on Monday.

The board will also deliberate on the management's proposal for a three-way split of the company. Today, GV Films is both a producer and exhibitor (owner of theatres) of movies. The company has also got into Internet streaming of movies for a fee, an operation that targets overseas Indians.
