June 20
The Government on Wednesday decided to reduce by two-thirds, the annual conversion rates for mixed use of residential premises in Delhi.
The DDA, last year, had fixed charges to be paid for mixed use of residential premises, subject to conditions including owners getting premises registered with a local body on payment of registration fee and payment of mixed use charges every year to the local body by June 30.
"Many organisations, MPs, MLAs and counsellors of MCD represented that the conversion charges were on the higher side. Less than one per cent of the affected people have come to make the payment, although there are just 10 days to go for the deadline. The Government has decided to reduce the conversion charges by two-third. This means, people will have to pay one-third of the existing rates for commercial premises and mixed land use premises," the Urban Development Minister, Mr Jaipal Reddy, said at a conference.
With only a few days to go for June 30 deadline, the facility to pay one-fourth of the charges by June 30 and the remaining three-fourth by September 30, 2007, is being provided.
one-time payment
"In addition, a facility to make one-time payment is being provided which will be eight times the proposed reduced annual charges. In such cases also, payment can be made in four equal quarterly instalments, the first of the instalments would be payable by June 2007," he said.
