No intention to withdraw Ikon, says Ford

Our Bureau

Chennai June 21 Ford India has no intention to withdraw Ikon from the market, the Ford India's Vice-President-Marketing, Sales and Service, Mr Scott McCormack, has told journalists. The comment comes in the wake of rumours that Ikon would be phased out, which have appeared perhaps because the company has rationalised the portfolio and currently offers only one petrol and one CNG variant.

Mr McCormach said that Ikon was the second largest volume product for Ford (after Fiesta) and the company would retail the car in its portfolio "for the foreseeable future".

"We do have plans for Ikon in terms of future changes or variants," he said, on the sidelines of a press conference held here to launch the Ford Endeavour in Chennai on Wednesday.

The new Ford Endeavour comes with a more fuel-efficient, 2.5 litre common rail (TDCi) engine. The multi-utility vehicle is also being offered with a four-wheel drive option for an additional cost of about Rs 70,000.
