Dabur Pharma plans generic versions of Sanofi's Eloxatin

New Delhi June 22 Oncology specialist Dabur Pharma and Dabur Oncology plc, its UK subsidiary, said that they have submitted two abbreviated new drug applications with Para-IV Certifications for generic versions of Sanofi-Aventis' drug Eloxatin.

The company said in a statement that it has applied to the US Food and Drug Administration seeking marketing approval for drug, which contains the active ingredient Oxaliplatin. Eloxatin, an injectable used in treatment of bowel cancer is reported to have generated sales of approximately $2.3 billion. According to Dabur Pharma generic versions of Eloxatin (Oxaliplatin) are available in several European markets.

In its statement, the company acknowledged the suits filed against it by Sanofi-Aventis US LLC, Sanofi-Aventis and Debiopharm, SA in the District Court of New Jersey. The complaint alleges that the filing of the Applications has infringed, and the proposed products will infringe, U.S. Patent No. 5,338,874 and U.S. Patent No. 5,716,988, said Dabur adding that it would dispute the charges.

The company claims its current market cap is of over Rs 1,000 crore and has in the recent past also expressed its desire to grow inorganically.
