Retailing Industry & Economy - Events CII institute hosting retail brand summit in July Our Bureau
Bangalore June 22 The CII Institute of Quality will organise its first Retail Brand 2007 Summit in Mumbai on July 5 and 6. The summit is an initiative by CII Institute of Quality to highlight the importance of retail branding in the organised retail sector.
New competence
Mr S.K. Kakkar, Head, CII Institute of Quality, said, "The summit will deliberate on many subjects like retail size, formats, prospects, challenges and developments. We will aim to seek out this new competence and focus attention on building retail brands for competitiveness." The summit will have participation from both corporates, academic institutions and retail chains such as Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Ltd, Subhiksha Trading Services, RPG Group, Reliance Lifestyle, Motorola, McDonalds, Future Group-Pantaloons, Infiniti Retail Ltd and Tata Consulting Services.
More competition
With increasing competition the winners in the business will be those who can create a distinct identity for themselves and present retail offer that on its face itself spell out its value proposition, said Mr Harish Bijoor, Event Chairman, The Retail Brand 2007. This involves building a customer-centric culture and constant monitoring of the emerging global trends. Mr Bijoor said that today's successful marketing organisations should have the CEO who has to become the Brand Champion who sets the pace, ensuring that the message is integrated into all decisions going forward.
