Events States - Andhra Pradesh International pharma meet from today Our Bureau
Hyderabad June 26 The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers, is organising India - Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) International Pharma Meet here during June 27-29. "The main objective of the meet is to expose the huge, untapped export potential to the LAC region, especially for the small and medium enterprises in Indian pharma industry," Dr P.V. Appaji, Executive Director, Pharmexcil, told newspersons here on Tuesday. About 50 delegates representing pharma industry, trade, food and drug officials participating from about 20 countries of Latin America and Caribbean region and over 200 delegates from different parts of the country are participating in the event, Mr D.B. Mody, Chairman, Pharmexcil, said.
MARKET POTENTIAL
India-LAC bilateral trade is emerging as one of the fast growing and potential market for Indian pharma sector, including small and medium enterprises. It stood at $291 million during 2005-06 with a growth rate of 25 per cent per annum. The LAC region is the seventh largest destination region-wise in pharma exports and pharma trade with Caribbean countries is around $43 million with a growth rate of 37 per cent. Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Minister of State (Finance), will be the chief guest at the inaugural function.
