25 retail outlets across the country planned

Kolkata June 26 Khaitan Electricals Ltd, which has a 15 per cent share of the Rs 1,600-crore domestic market for fans, has launched its range of designer fans. These fans will be sold through the `Khaitan Fantasy' retail outlets, the first of which was inaugurated here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mohan Kant, Vice-President (Corporate), Khaitan Electricals Ltd, said by March, the company would have 25 Khaitan Fantasy outlets across the country. These outlets were together expected to generate an incremental revenue of Rs 50 crore for the company in the next 12 months.

Mr Kant said the domestic market for fans was growing at around 15 per cent per annum, thanks to the boom in the real estate sector, among other things. To cope with the growth in demand for fans, as also to garner incremental market share, Khaitan Electricals was setting up production facilities in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Besides fans, the company had embarked upon the manufacture of isolators, distribution boxes, miniature circuit breakers, cables, lamps, bulbs, domestic appliances, etc, with a view to positioning itself as an "electrical solutions conglomerate".

Khaitan Electricals, which notched a turnover of Rs 235 crore in 2006-07, has targeted a turnover of Rs 325 crore in the current fiscal. The group's turnover was expected to go up from Rs 310 crore in 2006-07 to Rs 500 crore in the year ending March 31, 2008.

Earnings from export of fans are expected to go up from Rs 27 crore in 2006-07 to Rs 45 crore in the current fiscal. The company currently exports its products to West Asia, Africa and SAARC countries. Efforts were on to export fans to the US and Europe, Mr Kant said.
