E-Governance States - Tamil Nadu TN issues order on e-tendering
Our Bureau Coimbatore, June 27 The Tamil Nadu Government has issued an order for the introduction of e-tendering in a phased manner, with the first phase beginning from July 1 this year. The Finance Secretary, Mr K.Gnanadesikan, in the Government Order stated that in the Budget speech for the 2007-08 financial year, it was announced that e-tendering would be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, beginning from July 1, 2007, the tender forms for open tenders for a value exceeding Rs 10 lakh could be obtained through the Internet and in the second phase, starting from October 1, 2007, bids could be submitted online through the Web sites of the departments concerned. On the basis of the announcement made in the Budget speech 2007-2008, the Government has issued the order for implementation of e-tendering in a phased manner. In the first phase, electronic supply of tender documents would be introduced in respect of open tenders for procurement exceeding a value of Rs 10 lakh , commencing from July 1, 2007. The accessibility of tender documents on the Government Web site would be in addition to the other forms of supply of tender documents. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) would be the nodal agency for the activities connected with this. To bring into force the above decision, the Government has decided to amend the provisions of Rule 15 (2) and Rule 16 (2) and (3) of the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Rules, 2000.
