Mixed trend at Kochi auction

Kochi, June 28 Arrivals of both dust and leaf tea to the Kochi tea auction were steady at around last week’s levels. There were 13.87 lakh kgs of dust tea on offer at the auction, which generated good general demand. Better liquoring and good quality CTC varieties maintained last week’s levels.

Prices of other CTC varieties eased by Re 1–Rs 3. Orthodox high grown and medium orthodox remained steady. Medium CTC dust witnessed export enquiries, while blenders lent good support to quality teas.

Best CTC varieties ranged between Rs 52 and Rs 62, medium CTC Rs 46-48 and below medium Rs 36-40. High grown BOPD fetched Rs 95, while medium BOPD fetched Rs 43-46 and secondaries ranged between Rs 30 and Rs 34.

Leaf Sale

Price of medium orthodox varieties eased by Rs 2-3 while whole leaf grades quoted lower. Best high grown bolder varieties were steady to dearer, while smaller high grown varieties witnessed lower demand. CTC prices were steady at last week’s levels. Orthodox leaf witnessed fair demand from CIS exporters.
