Outlook Bosch bullish on business from low-priced cars
Our Bureau Bangalore, June 29 Bosch Group anticipates a billion-euro business from manufacturing low-priced vehicles alone with its products and technologies by 2010. The forecast stems from the company’s focus on low-priced cars changing the global automotive market structure. India, with its current sales of 1.2 million cars of all categories, is set to witness a 14 per cent growth in the low-priced vehicles in the next seven years. Strategy, technology
Dr Bernd Bohr, member of the Bosch Board of Management and Chairman of the Automotive Group, in an outlook on the company’s strategies and technology development for components, said Bosch automotive division will maintain its high spend on research and development. It will invest 10 per cent of its sales this year to focus on technologies on clean and economical drive system and safe and comfortable driving assistance solutions. “Our cutting edge safety systems are an important tool in lowering accident rates in spite of rising traffic density,” said Mr Bohr at the 58th International Automotive Briefing in Boxberg, Germany, recently. “Bosch is working on technology for developing a ‘sensitive car’ with driver assistance system based on sensors and ultra-high performance electronic systems, said Mr Rainer Kallenbach, Executive Vice-President (Sales), Automotive Electronics Division, told presspersons. The company hopes to launch its predictive emergency braking system assisted by combination of radar and video sensor technology in 2009. “Over the years Bosch will develop new driver assistance systems to the series production stage,” he said. Mr Bohr said the low price vehicle segment is expected to grow at five per cent up to 2014 — more than twice the growth of other vehicles.
