Rupee gains on strong $ inflows


Mumbai, June 29

The rupee strengthened by almost 13 paise on strong dollar inflows. The home currency opened at 40.82 and closed at 40.70, against the previous close of 40.83 on Thursday. “The month end demand from importers is almost over and the domestic equity market saw FII inflows,” said a dealer at a private bank. According to dealers, RBI was not seen in the market. “The rupee is expected to trade in the range of 40.50-40.70 next week,” said the dealer. The six-month forward premia is at 2.53 per cent (2.91 per cent) and 12-month premia is at 2.57 per cent (2.83 per cent). —
