Restructuring Deloitte consolidates services in India

Our Bureau Mumbai, July 2 Global professional services firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu announced the launch of Deloitte & Touche Consulting India Pvt Ltd, a consolidation of its consulting services in India. The company appointed four new partners as part of a strategy to expand on non-attest services at an accelerated pace to manage the growing business in India, said Mr Manoj Singh, Global Managing Partner, Operations. The consulting practice in India currently employs 300 consultants with 15 partners. Newly appointed Mr Roopen Roy is to head the consulting firm while Mr Joydeep Datta Gupta will look after enterprise applications, technology, shared services and outsourcing advisory. Mr Jaideep Ganguli and Mr Arindam Guha are the other two senior partners. According to Mr Singh, its global revenue last year was Rs 94,300 crore ($23 billion) and by the end of this decade, aim to push services in India to Rs 1,000 crore. Currently, the group has a work force of 8,000 in India of which 2,500 are employed in consulting services, which account for around 20 per cent of its revenues, according to Mr Arun Palkar, Partner Deloitte Haskins & Sells. The mergers and acquisitions of the company is an important global thrust of its business constituting around Rs 12,300 crore ($3 billion), while 55 per cent of its revenue comes from auditory services, he added. The other core business is that of financial advisory services. Without divulging any details, Mr Singh said the company had earmarked a sum of Rs 20,500 lakh ($50 million) two years ago to be utilised over a period of four years. In April this year, Deloitte established a private equity practice - Deloitte Corporate Finance Services Pvt Ltd to provide investors with transaction-related services across the complete deal cycle from origination to completion.
