Premium offerings: Bathroom products on display at the new store in Hyderabad.
Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 3 Parryware Roca, which has brought premium-end bathroom fittings to the country, now plans to launch ‘Roca’ brand tiles, taps and bathtubs during the current financial year. The 50:50 joint venture between EID Parry and $1.6-billion Roca – the global leader from Spain – Parryware Roca will launch designer taps during the second quarter and tiles in the third quarter of the fiscal, in line with its expansion plans, according to Mr Emilio Salazar, Deputy Managing Director, Parryware Roca Pvt Ltd. The joint venture company plans to expand its designer showrooms in the country from the present 15 to at least 50 during the fiscal. Each showroom, which will have the entire range of Roca bathroom sanitaryware, would see an investment of up to Rs 40 lakh. Talking to newspersons, after launching the first showroom (the 16th in India) with Home A’Fair & Co in Hyderabad today, Mr A.Vellayan, Chairman, Parryware Roca, said the Roca range would be manufactured in the production units of EID Parry from January 2008. At present, imports are on, apart from upgradation to meet Roca standards. The domestic sanitaryware market is estimated to about Rs 850 crore. The premium segment, in which the Roca products are positioned, commands about Rs 100 crore. The joint venture is targeting a 15-per cent share in the current fiscal, said Mr K.E. Ranganath, Managing Director. Asked, why the joint venture was positioning itself in such a small market and if EID Parry did not run into conflict of business interests since it has its own range, Mr Ranganath said the premium segment was growing at a fast rate of 20 per cent and the joint venture given them the entry.
