UniverCell plans more stores

Chennai, July 4

Mobile phone retail chain, UniverCell, is planning to have 60 stores in Tamil Nadu by the end of September. “This will enable UniverCell to achieve a turnover of Rs 200 crore this fiscal,” said Mr Satish Babu, Managing Director of the company. During the last fiscal, it added 18 stores to its network of 12. With that, the Rs 120-crore company currently has 30 showrooms across the State and sells around 40,000 handsets a month. It also looks at a pan-India prese nce over the next two years. The chain today launched ‘shortcode’ service that will enable all mobile users, irrespective of service providers, to receive information such as price, features and offers by any mobile phone brand. UniverCell also announced that it has signed on film star Madhavan to endorse the brand.
