New Projects Subhash Projects offers tools for modernising utilities
Our Bureau Bangalore, July 4 Utilities grappling problems of management and distribution efficiency could soon be using an integrated information system and tools to modernise its practices to achieve higher revenue collection. A joint venture formed by the Bangalore-based Subhash Projects and Marketing Ltd (SPML) promises to upgrade the utilities’ systems and processes through an integrated information-based technology to reduce the commercial and technical losses to improve the utilities’ revenue recovery from the average 13 to 20 per cent to more than 75 per cent. Patented Technology
Hydro-Comp Enterprises India Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between HPML and the Cyprus-based Hydro Comp, are likely sign agreements for two projects soon, with three more expected to be finalised during the current fiscal. Typically, utilities in tier II cities achieved only 13.8 per cent billed and paid consumption revenue, losing huge revenue from wastages from meter problems, illegal connections and recoverable leakages from pipelines. Mr Anil Sethi, Chairman of SPML, told Business Line that the new company will provide complete services, which includes water management, technical studies, rehabilitation of leakages and 24/7 distribution to the consumers. Mr K. Ashok Natarajan, Managing Director of Hydro-Comp Enterprises, said with its Cyprus partner’s patented technology for integrated information system, Hydro Comp will install an integrated technology platform of Geographical Information System and IT tools with meters installed at the consumers’ end to improve the billed revenue to the utilities. Mr Natarajan said lack of an unscientific demand management approach and leakages due to old technologies and illegal connections resulted in huge losses to the utilities. He said improvement could be achieved without any change in existing systems or tariff, by simply upgrading the technology and practices.
