Dr Duvvuri Subbarao on Wednesday assumed charge as Finance Secretary. He will continue to look after the Department of economic affairs (DEA) in which he was holding the post of Secretary from May 1, 2007. An official release said that Dr Subbarao, an Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer, has wide experience on issues in public finance and has held important posts in this area. He was lead economist in the World Bank during 1999-2004 and worked on issues of public finance in A frica and East Asia. – Our Bureau
