Good rain!

The editorial “Good rain !” (Business Line, July 4) rightly remarks that “the agricultural sector is languishing in the absence of a strategic plan and commitment”. Now, it is imperative that the Central and State Governments have concrete plans in place to make optimum use of the copious rainfall and ensure maximum production of various crops.

Also, the increase in production must ensure that the farmers get maximum returns (in the process, middlemen should be eliminated) and that consumers get agricultural produce at reasonable prices.
