KSCDC aims at making profit by 2011

Mony K. Mathew

Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 The crisis-ridden Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) hopes to start making profits by 2011 by adopting a series of measures to tone up operations and streamline the marketing efforts.

To begin with, the corporation has targeted to achieve full capacity utilisation in the current year itself and double the turnover to Rs 200 crore from around Rs 100 crore last year.

The number of working days are sought to be raised to 300 days from a low of 165 days in 2006-07, according to Dr K.A. Ratheesh, Managing Director of KSCDC.

He told Business Line that apart from full capacity utilisation, the corporation was looking at higher value addition and development of innovative products to cater to both the domestic and export markets.

It has already developed four new products.
