CII organising meet on FOSS

The Confederation of Indian Industry will organise the first national conference on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) here next week to woo the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), academics and professionals from information technology sector. The success of FOSS projects such as Firefox, Open Office, MySQL and Ubuntu has increased users' awareness of FOSS. Addressing a news conference, IIM-A's Prof B.H. Jajoo, Chairman, said representatives of HCL, IBM and other companies would participate in the meet to be held here from July 13 to 15. In particular, the conference aimed at encouraging academicians to integrate their curricula with FOSS and inspire the SMEs to make the most of this new development in IT.
