Our Bureau

Mumbai, July 6 Kingfisher Airlines, the Indian full service carrier, has entered into a partnership with Continental Airlines for frequent flyer and airport lounge access reciprocity. It would also look at codesharing agreement in the future, providing better service to customers who travel between India and the US, a release said on Thursday.

Beginning October 1, members of the two airlines’ frequent flyer programmes that include Continental’s OnePass and Kingfisher’s King Club, will be able to earn and redeem miles on all flights operated by the other carrier. Reciprocal airport lounge access for eligible customers, including Continental BusinessFirst and Presidents Club members, will also begin at this time, it added.

The two airlines also announced starting of codesharing by the end of this year. Continental will place its code (CO*) on Kingfisher flights connecting to Continental’s daily flights between Delhi and New York and the new service between Mumbai and New York, commencing October 2.

Single Partnership between the two carriers would also enable customers travelling on connecting flights between Continental and Kingfisher to have single check-in for all flights, including the issuance of electronic tickets, boarding passes and checked baggage to their final destination.

Continental has been operating daily non-stop flights between Delhi and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, since 2005. Kingfisher Airlines currently operates 187 flights daily across 29 key destinations in India.
