NetXcell, Idea tie up for SMS product

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 6 NetXcell Ltd, a telecom application services provider, has signed a pan-India agreement with Idea Cellular Ltd to provide SMS-based, value added services with the shortcode 5-9595.

Idea mobile subscribers across 11 circles in the country will be able to access a variety of services such as news alerts, phrase translators, and MCX feeds through this access code service, according to a company press release.

9595 can also be used by companies for mobile marketing, which is the next big thing in the mobile industry and can even be outsourced to companies like Google or eBay etc. to search or sell a product.

Short codes

Short codes are widely used for value-added services such as television voting, mobile services and charity donations. The SMS sent to these codes are commonly referred to as premium rate SMS, the release said.

For NetXcell, the service will be an additional revenue generator as several vendors of services/products can route their marketing through it.
