Ahmedabad, July 6 The State-owned Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has bagged the National Award for Excellence In Cost Management-2006, instituted by the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI).

Mr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Managing Director, and Mr K.P. Buch, Chief Financial Officer of GACL, received the Award, third in the category of Manufacturing (Public Sector) at the hands of Mr Premchand Gupta, Union Minister of Corporate affairs, in New Delhi, according to a release here on Friday.

Among the GACL’s achievements are reduction in power consumption and in power cost per unit, focus on manufacturing value-added products.
