United India bullish on health plans

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 9 Public sector general insurance company United India Insurance plans to increase its offerings in health insurance in view of the growth potential in the segment, according to its Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M.K. Garg.

After launching three new policies in health insurance here on Monday, Mr Garg said the company would expand the health insurance portfolio by participating in financial inclusion and selling micro insurance products in the villages. “The new policies, Platinum, Gold and Senior Citizen, are aimed at eliminating the lacunae in the earlier policies,” Mr Garg said, adding that the existing ‘MediGuard’ plan would be withdrawn.

The Platinum policy would be for those below the age of 35 years, while the Gold policy was intended for those between 36 and 60. The Senior Citizen policy would be sold to those between 61 and 80 years. The policies would cover the insured and their family members, including legal spouse, unmarried children up to the age of 21 years and dependent parents.

The minimum sum insured would be Rs 50,000 for all the three policies, while the upper limit was Rs 10 lakh for Platinum, Rs 5 lakh for Gold and Rs 3 lakh for Senior Citizen, he said.
