Property development, construction and housing finance still contribute significantly to portfolios, partially discounting the theory that the recent dip in the real estate market has made more than a small dent. The segment accounts for a critical portion of the net assets of many of the leading performers. Nevertheless, its contribution varies widely. In the case of Standard Chartered Premier Equity, the top one-year performer, it contributes less than 5 per cent. However, in the case of JM Basic, the No 2 in this league, its contribution is a high 29 per cent. And in the case of ICICI Pru Infrastructure, it is at a more modest 7.51 per cent.
