Biz incubator for welding tech on anvil

Tiruchi, July 9 The country’s first Technology Business Incubator (TBI) is to come up soon at the Welding Research Institute (WRI) here at a cost of Rs 4.57 crore.

The Union Government has sanctioned the scheme to the institute with the objective of creating technology-based new enterprises; creating value-added jobs and services; fostering entrepreneurship; speedy commercialisation of research and development outputs; developing new tools of technology transfer; creating technological awareness and consciousness in existing small and medium enterprises (SME); and providing assistance to existing SMEs by way of specialised services, said Mr G. Uma Shankar, Head, WRI.

New entrepreneurs could use the modern facilities available at the TBI at a nominal cost for a reasonable period.
