Port Blair flights return

Kolkata, July 10 Flights of Indian Airlines (IC 287), Jet Airways (9W 629) and Air Deccan (DN 697) bound for Port Blair had to return to Kolkata airport due to poor visibility at the destination.

Indian and Jet Airways have arranged for hotel accommodations of their passengers and will have additional flights tomorrow. “The aircraft could not land in Port Blair due to poor visibility, dense cloud and strong winds. We have arranged for hotel accommodation for our passengers and will have an additional flight to Port Blair at 08.15 tomorrow,” an Indian official told Business Line.

According to sources, the Airport police had to intervene to evacuate irate passengers from the Air Deccan aircraft.
