Minister visits BEML

Bangalore, July 10

The Union Minister of State for Defence Production, Mr Rao Inderjit Singh, visited the complexes of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields and Mysore on Tuesday. The defence PSU said Mr Singh inspected the production facilities and witnessed equipment demonstrations. He inaugurated the new transmission assembly shop at the company’s H & P Plant of KGF Complex. BEML will be manufacturing a range of transmissions for auto and earth movers industry at this shop. Mr Singh reviewed the progress made by BEML for the supply of defence products. BEML, which expects to surpass Rs 3,000 crore turnover during the current fiscal, commands 70 per cent domestic market share in the earthmoving industry.—
