Synthite Chem, Aromco of UK form venture

Aromco Ltd, the UK based flavour house, has entered into a joint venture with the Kochi-based spice oleoresin company, Synthite Industrial Chemicals, to manufacture winning flavour solutions based on customer specific briefs.

The new firm, Aromco Flavours India (P) Ltd, will cater exclusively to the Indian food industry and offer special flavours to players in the dairy, bakery, confectionary, beverages, pharma and animal feed industries.

Capacity

Mr Paolo George, COO of the company, said the factory operations of Aromco India has commenced at Synthite Taste Park at Vadavukode near Kochi. The custom-designed unit has a current annual capacity to process 2,000 tonnes of liquid and powder flavours, which would be increased to 7,500 tonnes by 2010. The project investment, estimated at $4 million, will be completed by 2010.

Aromco Ltd is a recognised name in the flavour industry in the UK with active presence in Europe, China, Africa, the Philippines, Indonesia and the West Asian markets. The company will source an average of 1,200 raw materials from India and abroad.

The R&D team, comprising resources from India, the UK and France, are fully in place and the sales and marketing efforts have also started.
