Fixed Deposits Vijaya Bank to focus on low-cost deposits

Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 11 Vijaya Bank will focus on increasing low-cost deposits such as savings and current accounts and will add at least one million new accounts by August, according to the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Prakash P. Mallya. After inaugurating the branch managers’ conference of Hyderabad region of the bank here on Wednesday, he said the bank would also focus on agriculture, small-scale industries, women, weaker sections and self-help groups. Informing that the bank had achieved 100 per cent financial inclusion in Mandya district of Karnataka as a lead bank, Mr Mallya asked the mangers of the rural branches to identify at least two potential villages for 100 per cent financial inclusion under their command area. On branch expansion, the chairman said by March 2008, the total branches would be 1,050 including seven new branches in Andhra Pradesh.
