Money & Banking - Interest Rates
`Interest rates have peaked'

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 11

Interest rates in the economy have peaked and are unlikely to rise further, HDFC Chairman, Mr Deepak Parekh, has said here. At the same time, he also noted that it was unlikely that the rates would come down. "I think interest rates have already peaked, I don't see the RBI hiking rates in the upcoming Credit Policy nor do I see interest rates coming down in the near future," Mr Parekh told reporters on the sidelines of a NHB function.

The RBI is to come up with a quarterly review of monetary policy on July 31. On home loan rates, Mr Parekh said that the pressure on home loan rates have also eased in the wake of falling inflation.
