Events States - West Bengal IIT-Kharagpur, AIRIA in pact for rubber expo
Our Bureau Kolkata July 12 The All-India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) has tied up with the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, for organising an international conference at India Rubber Expo 2009, to be held in Kolkata. This comes close on the heels of AIRIA’s tie-up with the CII for the Kolkata Expo. As per the agreement, the Rubber Technology Centre of IIT, Kharagpur, will mount the technical programme of the conference and a rubber quiz. According to senior AIRIA officials, the institute will also be responsible for developing the conference material. It is learnt that technical and research from a number of rubber experts around the world would be presented at the conference. Commenting on the tie-up, Mr K.T. Thomas, President, AIRIA, said “IIT Kharagpur is one of the premier institutions of the country and has played a very crucial role in broadening of the technological capabilities. We are certain that given their technical expertise, this association will bring immense value to IRE 2009”. The India Rubber Expo 2009, scheduled to be held in Kolkata in January 2009, is envisaged as the Asia’s largest rubber expo and the world’s second largest. Mr Thomas said the primary objective of the show was to highlight and discuss the technological developments made, which will aid the rubber industry in future.
