Genpact stays top ITES-BPO exporter

New Delhi, July 12

BPO major Genpact has retained its position as the top ITES-BPO exporter in India in revenue terms during 2006-07 followed by WNS Global Services, according to the annual rankings by industry association Nasscom.

Transworks Information Services, which ranked 15th in last year’s list, piped other BPO contenders to finish third on the FY07 pecking order. IBM-Daksh, TCS BPO, Wipro BPO took the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Other companies in the top 15 list include Firstsource Solutions, HCL BPO, Infosys BPO, EXL Service Holdings, Citigroup Global Services, Aegis BPO Services, HTMT Global Solutions, 24/7 Customer, Mphasis BPO, according to Nasscom.

How it works

It is pertinent to mention here that the Nasscom list does not include some companies whose corporate headquarters are located outside India, but have significant India-based delivery capabilities, and have not shared their India-based revenue figures.

“Had they been ranked based on their India revenues, companies such as Convergys and Sutherland Global Services would have also appeared in this list,” Nasscom said, while pointing out that the revenue figures for the ranked companies was not being shared as several companies in the list were privately held.

In FY 07, the Indian ITES-BPO segment grew by 33.5 per cent contributing $8.4 billion to the total software and services exports of $31.4 billion.

“The ITES-BPO segment continued to grow at a scorching pace, to record export revenues of $8.4 billion in FY07. We expect segment revenues to grow at around 30 per cent next year, to clock exports of $10.5-11 billion in FY08. The Indian BPO sector has witnessed significant transformation over the past decade. Starting with basic data entry tasks, it now includes increasingly complex processes,” Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom said.
